Pack Light. This is my first attempt to start blogging about travel. But it’s not the destinations I want to write about, there is plenty of good and bad advice out there.
I want to write about packing, unpacking, overpacking, hauling your suitcase over medieval cobblestone roads, bringing gifts, paying taxes, or just what will make your trip more memorable besides admiring the Sistine Chapel and so many other questions that will come to mind before, during and after the trip.
Your packing will be much different if you are going to enjoy the beach than if you are going to meet and stay with someone. Let me clarify that. When you are staying with family or friends you normally are tight to their schedule and not to yours. Let’s just say that you are staying at a hotel by the beach with your significant other.
Let’s get back to the original question, what should I pack? By now you should know what you are planning to do, most likely spend the weekend at the beach which was your first intention. your main concern should be the evenings and not the day wear, if you are planning to spend the day at the beach for three days you are going to need two bathing suits, I know many of you think you need four, ok, bring three. You won’t be doing much changing in the daytime, if you decide to go into town a pair of shorts and a t-shirt will suffice, do you need four pairs of shorts? I don’t think so, two will be plenty, with couple different shirts and one pair of sandals, nobody is watching what you wear, except your significant other of course.
The evening is the time that you decide to go out for a nice dinner, a walk-in town, a dance club or a casino. This is where your packing concerns should take first precedence. If you are on a four-day long weekend you have two nights to go out, not four, the first night you arrive, you are probably stay in by the hotel, unpack, get acquainted etc. Then you are ready for the 2nd and 3rd night, so you will need two nice sundresses, and two pairs of comfortable shoes. That is all, no more packing, the rest of your packing should be your accessories, jewelry, hair dryer, make up, underwear and your boyfriend who probably threw in a pair of shorts a T-shirt and a bathing suit.
You are going to need something for the evenings like a pair of slacks or a nice pair of shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Flip Flaps will not be acceptable in a lot of restaurants as well as shorts.
